How does Quinivir 200mg Tablet work?

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus:

• Improves insulin sensitivity
• Increases insulin secretion

Rheumatoid Arthritis:

• Acts as a mild immunosuppressant
• Disease-modifying anti-rheumatic agent
• Inhibits the production of rheumatoid factor

Systemic and Discoid Lupus Erythematosus:

• Decreases the severity of skin lesions

Malaria:

• Increases the concentration of a toxic compound in the parasite, leading to its death

Quick Suggestions:

• Consume Hydroxychloroquine with food to prevent an upset stomach.
• It may take 8-12 weeks for Hydroxychloroquine to show its therapeutic effects. It's important to continue taking it as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
• Do not take medicines that neutralize stomach acids (antacids) four hours before and after taking Hydroxychloroquine. This precaution is necessary to ensure proper absorption of the medicine from your gut.

Dosage & Administration of Quinivir 200mg Tablet

Adult Dose:

Oral Malaria:

• Acute treatment: 800 mg PO, then 400 mg PO 6-8 hours later, then 400 mg PO at 24 and 48 hours.
• Prophylaxis: 400 mg PO weekly, starting 2 weeks before exposure and continuing for 4 weeks after departure from the area.

Rheumatoid Arthritis:

• Initial dose: 400-600 mg PO daily for 4-12 weeks.
• Maintenance: 200-400 mg PO daily.

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus:

• Initial dose: 400 mg PO once or twice daily.
• Maintenance: 200-400 mg PO daily.

Hepatic Impairment:

• Estimation of plasma hydroxychloroquine levels to be undertaken in patients with severely compromised function and dosage adjusted accordingly.

Child Dose:

Malaria:

• Acute treatment: 13 mg/kg base PO, then 6.5 mg/kg base PO 6 hr later, then 6.5 mg/kg base PO at 24 and 48 hours; not to exceed 400 mg/day base.
• Prophylaxis: 6

.5 mg/kg base (not to exceed 400 mg [310 mg base]) PO weekly, starting 2 weeks before exposure and continued for 4 weeks after departure from the area.

Renal Dose:

• In cases of renal impairment, estimation of plasma hydroxychloroquine levels should be undertaken in patients with severely compromised function, and dosage adjusted accordingly.
